Hi! I’m Katie. I’m a freelance writer/videographer/social media person, currently based in Athens, Greece. Right now, I do everything from consulting for cruise lines (I have written cooking classes for Silversea Cruises’ SALT program) to online food tours for Context Travel. I also represent several Athens-based brands on social media, helping them to tell stories about their products.
Here’s a lil list of where I’ve worked in the past and what I did there:
SAVEUR
Managed several interns and a video production assistant, as well as additional staff members who occasionally pitched and shot their own video work
Operated as the de facto video editor; created content rubrics and style guides for all video content on our site; assigned and edited video pieces from freelance contributors; pitched and produced my own video stories in- house and abroad
Pitched, wrote, and edited pieces daily for both the print magazine and website in locations including Greece, Turkey, Mexico, and the Amazon; copy, line edited, and improved SEO on all content on saveur.com
Created newsletters and worked on social media and sponsored content projects across all platforms
Won a 2018 Media Industry Newsletter (MIN) Rising Star Award, which acknowledges promising careers in media and is given to exceptional young professionals across the magazine industry

Helped shoot video in different locations throughout New York; gathered vox pops for video projects
Reported several hard news stories in the city; attended community board meetings and press conferences to gather story ideas and keep up with happenings throughout the boroughs
Reuters
Shadowed journalists in the multi-lingual Athens newsroom; learned how to convert speeches and events into short news updates to send to subscribers; copy-edited translated quotes
Gathered vox pops with Reuters reporters for stories on the pro- and anti-Euro protests, changes in the tourism industry, and the potential effects of a "Grexit"
Shadowed photographers and videographers in the field at protests and migrant centers
